I was thinking the other day about this phrase “get rich or die trying” and I have come to the conclusion that THIS saying marks the final downfall of our society. The fact that people would glorify being willing to DIE for money is appalling!
And don’t get me wrong, I understand the idea of having a work ethic and know that it is VERY important. But die trying? For money?
What happened to dying for faith? For standing up for your beliefs? For what is right? What happened to dying in the defense of the poor? The weak? The exploited? What happened to money isn’t everything? Where did all the people who would stand up for right go?
The crazy thing for me is that our generation and those coming up behind us have opportunities to affect change in ways that our parents and their parents couldn’t have IMAGINED. The Internet. Social Media. We are a connected society. We are a connected world. But we don’t connect. We don’t rise up together.
We are too busying dying to get money.
How do you feel about the idea that we are more worried about becoming rich than making the world a better place?
